Find the right hard disk
At Foxway, you will find a wide variety of external and internal hard drives for laptops, desktops, servers and storage. If you are not sure what would be the right choice for you or your customers, please ask our local account managers.
The need for storage will always be present, whether it is local or in the cloud. If you need to store larger files on a desktop computer or NAS server, a traditional mechanical hard drive (HDD) is often the best choice. This gives you a larger storage capacity at a lower price. On the other hand, you will have to compromise on the higher transfer rate offered by the SSD hard drive. The SSD also has obvious advantages that the mechanical HDD cannot offer at the same level. Read and write speeds are significantly increased with the SSD, data delivery is also significantly improved (IOPS) and the device is also silent and has no moving parts. All these benefits combined mean that the speed of the computer is improved while reducing noise.
Most popular hard drive sizes
The two most commonly used hard drive sizes are 2.5" and 3.5". They offer the same speed but are compatible with different products. In a laptop or console, you will need a 2.5", but in a desktop computer or NAS server, you can use both sizes. The speed determines the speed at which a hard drive can read/write and is on normal PCs usually at 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm. However, if the hard drives of the server you are looking for, you will see that they are also available in 10K and 15K RPM. In addition, they are available in SATA and SAS editions. They each have their obvious advantages. The SATA hard drive will offer greater capacity with lower RPM and shorter life. However, it is often significantly cheaper. Unlike SATA, the SAS hard drive often comes with a higher speed, lower capacity and longer life, but at a higher price.
However, if you want high read and write speeds, you should invest in an SSD instead.
